Pastor Says Con Man Forged Church Deeds, Sold Property

NEW YORK - A New York City pastor says a con man posing as a member forged deeds to the church, then used the false documents to sell the property to a developer.
The Free Mission Action Movement Church, founded in 1979, is now embroiled in a property battle with the developer and the case is pending in Brooklyn Supreme Court.
Pastor Walter Dunlap says the man used notaries public and a title company to fool the City Register's office to record the forged deeds, and then sold the church property for $50,000. The register's office does not review documents for authenticity.
Prosecutors say deed forgery in order to sell property or obtain mortgages is increasing.
