A Kassam rocket launched by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza landed in an open area on a kibbutz (agricultural community) in the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council Tuesday. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Despite the tadhiyeh (temporary calm) with Hamas and other Gaza-based Islamic terror groups, southern Israeli communities have been hit by more than 20 Kassams and many mortar shells.

Attacks, which nearly stopped after the truce began on June 19, are beginning to occur on a daily basis again.

"Even if there was total calm, my mind wouldn't be at rest," said Alon Shuster, chairman of the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council.

"I still believe that the government is not doing all it needs to be doing in terms of fortification. Even the ongoing budget debates shouldn't interfere with fortification efforts," he said.

Residents of the kibbutz where the latest rocket fell Tuesday have begun fortifying the communities' buildings against rocket and mortar shell attacks.
