CBNNews.com - Republican presidential candidate John McCain picked up what he hopes is an influential endorsement on Monday that  will score points within the Latino community.

"I am here endorsing Sen. McCain because I believe in his ideas and his proposals to date this nation," Ramon Ayala said.

Ayala, better known as Grammy Award-winning reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee, came to Phoenix's Central High School and gave his support to the presumptive Republican nominee.

The endorsement was announced at a ten minute event at the ethnically diverse high school where McCain's wife Cindy graduated in 1972.

Daddy Yankee cited the senator's support of Latinos and his immigration efforts, and says McCain is the best person to lead the nation.

The Puerto Rican singer, best known for his song "La Gasolina," is considered an innovator in reggaeton, a form of music that combines different genres, including hip-hop.
