Smiling 'iPhone Girl' a Hit on New Phone

CBNNews.com - When British Internet user "Markm49uk" opened his brand new iPhone 3G last week, he found a little surprise on his home screen.
It was an image of a Chinese girl flashing peace signs in a factory assembly line for iPhones. She may have just forgotten to delete the test photos, but it's a little late now -- the "iPhone Girl" has become an Internet sensation.
The smiling Chinese girl made her online debut when "Markm49uk" posted all the photos -- the one on his home screen and two from the phone's photo album -- on MacRumors.com, a popular forum for Apple product fans.
The posting received hundreds of comments, many calling her "cute" and one joking that if his phone came with a photo of a cute, smiling girl, he'd be "willing to pay extra."
Other posters worry that "she is so fired" because of the mishap.
However, an unidentified representative from Foxconn's factory in Shenzhen, southern China, told the newspaper Xiandai Kuaibao that "she is definitely not fired."
The representative said it was likely that the test photos were left in the phone's memory "accidentally."
The Foxconn factory assembles most of Apple's iPhones and iPods, the newspaper said.
Although the company is conducting its own investigation, fans are concerned for iPhone girl's future -- so much so, that someone created a Web site to post media reports on her.
