California Diocese Seeks Replacement for Gay Priest

FRESNO, Calif. - The Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno, California, is looking for a replacement for the Rev. Geoffrey Farrow. He was removed last week for telling congregants that he opposed a California ballot initiative to ban same-sex marriage.
Sunday, an interim administrator read worshippers a letter from Fresno's bishop calling Farrow's comments a contradiction of church teachings that "brought scandal to the parish."
Before the Oct. 5 Mass at which Farrow revealed his opposition to Proposition 8, he told a Fresno television reporter that he is gay. The priest packed and left the parish after the Mass.
