Poll: Most Americans See Flawed Moral Compass

ROME - A new poll conducted for the Knights of Columbus finds that more than 70 percent of Americans believe the nation's moral compass is pointed in the wrong direction.
The Roman Catholic group's Supreme Knight, Carl Anderson, says the Marist Poll also finds that 70 percent of Americans oppose same-sex marriage, and that 84 percent, including those who call themselves pro-choice, believe abortion should be "significantly restricted."
But he says the pollsters found sharply different views between practicing and non-practicing Catholics, with non-practicing Catholics more likely to disagree with the church's moral teachings.
Anderson is in Rome for the worldwide synod of Catholic bishops. He says the bishops have emphasized the need to promote biblical morality and a biblical world view among Catholics.
