Hamas: Truce Over
Hamas launched a volley of more than two dozen rockets into southern Israel from Gaza this week, as Israelis were celebrating their independence day.
The attack caused little damage, but Israel's military believes the kassam launches were designed to cover up a botched plan to kidnap Israeli soldiers.
Hamas also called an end to a five-month cease-fire with Israel, and promised to capture more Israeli soldiers.
We Dare You
Some Israeli analysts believe Hamas is copying the tactics of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon-building bunkers and better rockets, and virtually daring Israel's government to do something about it.
There is concern among some military officials that the longer Israel waits to deal with the Hamas military buildup, the more deadly it will be for Israeli soldiers who will one day have to confront Hamas.
But for now, Olmert's cabinet has decided to see if Egyptian pressure on Hamas will rein in the rockets. If not, a showdown between Israel and Hamas in Gaza may be coming soon.
