Sireesha Can See!
CBN.com Children’s Day was a very happy day for most of the kids at Sireesha’s school. But 11-year-old Sireesha felt sad and left out because she could not see well.
Sireesha had complained to her parents many times about her eyesight, but they could not afford the long trip to the eye doctor. The closest one was more than 75 km away.
Since Sireesha knew that her family was going through a lot of financial problems, she decided to suffer silently.
She was a brilliant student at school, but tests and school had become harder for her in the last two years. She had to strain her eyes to read the black board. This led to constant headaches. As her eyesight worsened, she stopped looking at the black board and started copying the notes from girl next to her.
Sireesha’s personality changed, too. She became more of an introvert, and many days she feared she would go blind.
Eye Camp to the Rescue
Sireesha didn’t have any idea what lay in store for her on this Children’s Day - Operation Blessing India had planned to organize a special eye camp at her school!
Three hundred sixty-five children were checked and 14 were provided with glasses, including Sireesha.
When Sireesha tried on her new glasses, she could finally see everything clearly.
When she went inside her classroom and sat on the last bench, she burst into a smile. She could read the black board!
With tears of happiness, Sireesha said, “Thank you so much Operation Blessing India. I can see much better now…. Now I know I will be able to study better, too. I am also happy my parents didn’t have to spend any money for my sake. Thank you for doing this for me.”
